Storytellers for May 9th
Justin Lockwood
"Runaway Vacay"
Justin's revealing stories and clever insights have made him a favorite of audiences around the Bay Area and beyond. His act spans from growing up on a marijuana farm to raising his own son to dating as a single parent.
He’s the producer of several shows and you can see him regularly at clubs and venues including The Throckmorton Theatre, The Set Up, Comedy Oakland, The Laugh Cellar and others.
In addition to standup, Justin has has written, directed and produced multiple plays and starred in dozens of theatrical productions.
Lara Starr
"Rare Medium"
Lara Starr is a radio producer, publishing publicist, author of several slightly silly Star Wars cookbooks, and semi-pro thrift shopper. She knows how to make frosting roses, and can teach you to do it too. She’s promoted several #1 New York Times bestsellers, booked thousands of radio show guests, and has first-hand knowledge Jon Hamm wears Calvin Klein underwear. It’s pretty rare for her to perform in front of a crowd, but the the last time she did she sang for Motown founder Berry Gordy. She lives in Marin County. 
L. Abdul-Kenyatta
"CONFESSIONS OF AN ANGRY AFRICAN IN AMERICA…"
He is the Street Corner Poet and Professor of Urban News. A regular contributor to the NPR show SNAP JUDGMENT. 
His stories are funny, amusing and informative.
He was born and raised in Harlem, New York. Currently living in San Francisco. He is a mainstay in the jazz and blues clubs of the Bay Area.
“There is a liveliness in his resonance and presentation that produces an assortment of shades, hues and styles suffused with a mellow and rich presentation full of drive and urban rhythms.”
He has published a number of books and CD’s.
His novel is entitled—FIVE THOUSAND URGENTLY POINTLESS DISTRACTIONS.
Joe Klocek
"Another Way of Stopping"
Joe is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy. Raised a midwesterner, so he has manners, but living in San Francisco for 20 years, so he thinks he's better than you. Joe does two things great- tells stories and talks to the crowd.
