Mark Adamo, called “a brilliant theater composer” by the New Yorker, will unveil his new opera, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene, this June at San Francisco Opera. Adamo, both composer and librettist, will talk about the process that led to this inevitable and fascinating reinterpretation of the New Testament figure, Mary Magdalene, who is at the heart of one of the world’s most controversial mythologies of the last two millennia. The panel will include opera stars Sasha Cooke and Nathan Gunn, with moderator Dr. Clifford Cranna.
