As a composer, improviser, singer and a sound-artist, Ingibjörg Friðriksdóttir (Iceland), is constantly researching new techniques to improve her ability to explore and experiment with composing and performing music. In her compositions she extends the language of acoustic instruments by using unusual playing techniques and pre-recorded sounds with instrumental compositions. Furthermore Ingibjörg seeks to use her voice in her composition, and expend the vocal sound-source by exploring different vocal techniques.
Paula Morales (1983) investigates the space between the analogue and digital worlds. As a visual artist she is constantly questioning images and their origins. Her work is charged with nostalgic elements as well as modern cliches while exploring space as a subject. She currently finds herself exploring “thingness” and things as an aesthetic expansion of spaces and people through installation pieces. Her works range from editorial portraiture, digital media, video, installation and virtual performance.
Chris Wood is a performance artist, electronic musician,
and composer. His works cross and combine the mediums of performance art, music theater, electro-acoustic, performance poetry, and fixed media. He combines physical and emotional endurance with custom analog and digital electronics to create situations of emotional and social renegotiation. His works ask questions like: How do the vibrations of sound effect our social situation? How can empathy be encouraged as common practice within a locality? What effects does internet-based sociallity have on our community thinking? Currently pursuing his MFA in Electronic Music and Recorded Media at Mills College (2017), he is based in Oakland. He has had pieces performed in Oakland, Chicago, Toronto, Berlin, Tashkent, and Graz. In Chicago he co- founded, performs, and curators for Mocrep, a performance collective dedicated to the performance of radical art that engages with contemporary culture – aesthetically, socially, and politically.
