Portraits have been made for millennia and before the invention of photography, a hand-made portrait was the only way to convey and preserve a likeness of someone for future generations. Even now, a well-crafted portrait can preserve the likeness, character and essence of someone in a way that photography almost never can.
Join award-winning professional portrait artist Paul Morin for this two-day portrait workshop and learn to create your very own portraits. Whether beginner or accomplished, Paul will help you take your work to the next level! Not only will Paul share the secrets of his own technique but during painting sessions over the course of the two days, he will help guide your process to help you to develop your own techniques and grow as an artist.
Topics will include:
• "Likeness" and Learning to "Look"
• Formal and informal portraiture
• Working from the model / working from photographs
• Best practices
• The care and feeding of portrait subjects (and their loved ones!)
Paul Morin has been a professional commissioned portrait artist for over 10 years. A member of the Portrait Society of America, his portraits are in major public and private collections around the world and his portrait of Barack Obama titled "Profile in Hope," was presented to the president in the Oval Office in 2010. Educated at Providence College and Mass College of Art, Paul still considers himself primarily a self-taught contemporary neoclassic artist.
