Pocket Opera, the Bay Area's premiere chamber opera company, has offered accessible, "audience-friendly" performances for over 40 years. Pocket Opera's talented singers and Pocket Philharmonic (5-10 players) perform lively, professional, entertaining productions. Performances are fully staged and include concert ensembles. They are narrated in English versions by Donald Pippin, the company's founder and Artistic Director. The audience experiences full operatic works on an intimate, intelligible scale unique to Pocket Opera.
In Elixir of Love, shy Nemorino pines for Adina, but it would take a miracle to win her love. Fortunately, Dr. Dulcamara comes to their village selling his miraculous elixir. Donizetti's dazzling music frames one of the great romantic comedies in opera.
Also enjoy Pocket Opera's presentations of Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann on Sunday, June 16 and Rossini's The Barber of Seville on Sunday, July 21. Purchase a subscription to all three performances for a discount.
