Role Playing
Pianist Adam Tendler explores the topics of presence, personality, and the varied roles pianists must inhabit from piece to piece and performance to performance. Tendler critically examines how pianists shape-shift in their artistic and professional lives, and how they might embrace, shape and refine their many roles in order to authentically connect with audiences, colleagues, and with the music itself. Tendler will perform and discuss works by Frederic Rzewski (De Profundis), John Cage (4'33"), Bartok (Etudes, Mikrokosmos), Elodie Lauten (Imaginary Husband) and others.
