Joel Pickford is an award-winning photographer, filmmaker, and author born and raised in California's San Joaquin Valley. His photographs have been featured in Black & White magazine, and can be seen in many public and private collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Portland Art Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Fresno Art Museum, the University of Oregon Museum of Art, and the Weston Gallery. He comes to Monterey Peninsula College for several presentations on his life and work, and will also discuss his newest book, Soul Calling: A Photographic Journey Through the Hmong Diaspora. Each presentation will last 45 minutes with a Q&A session at the end. Lectures will take place in GA 101 near the Art Gallery and Nursing Department on November 6 at 12pm, as well as IC 106 behind nursing and near Art Dimensional building on November 6 at 6pm and November 7 at 1pm.
