Phil Cook
Phil Cook is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and interpreter based in Durham, North Carolina. Cook has gained notoriety over the years releasing albums and touring the world with his own bands, Megafaun and The Shouting Matches, as well as collaborating on stage and in the studio with the likes of The Blind Boys of Alabama, Amy Ray (The Indigo Girls), Kathleen Edwards, The Mountain Goats, Hiss Golden Messenger, William Tyler, Glenn Kotche, Matthew E White, Charlie Parr, and more.
Having garnered praise and adoration from fans, critics and peers alike, Phil is ready to step into the spotlight and make his statement – having completed work on his debut solo album, Southland Mission – out now on Thirty Tigers.
The Dead Tongues
The Dead Tongues is a musical and writing practice of Asheville North Carolina based artist Ryan Gustafson. At times Gustafson performs with a large backing band that nurtures a 60's rock n' roll spirt that allows the time and sonic space to indulge in loose long form improvisations while remaining rooted in a slightly garage toned style of folk and Americana music. More often recently he has been performing solo incorporating the fretless banjo, resonator guitar and three finger style acoustic guitar giving way to a more traditional and primitive approach to his songwriting. Though The Dead Tongues only have a limited amount of released material and a very minimal presence on social media and the internet in general, Gustafson remains constantly active in writing and evolving as an artist.
