Rick Kvistad's always interesting group, ADESSO will join forces with sensational jazz drummer Peter Erskine and LA top gun, Wade Culbreath for a program unlike anything heard before. Peter and Wade are featured in a composition for 10 percussionists written by Peter titled A Bird Sings. The remainder of the program explores the music of Bob Becker, John Cage, George Hamilton Green, and Rick Kvistad. The dazzling array of instruments, arrangements, compositions and improvisations will make for an unforgettable experience. Peter Erskine is known to be one of the most sensitive and artistic drum set performers in the world as well as a tremendous all around percussionist. The jaw dropping skills and musicality of Wade Culbreath will be featured on marimba on Peter's composition, and will delight with his xylophone ragtime virtuosity. The program will include a jazzy arrangement of a movement from John Cage's Perilous Night, originally written for prepared piano. Also, two compositions by Bob Becker will be performed—a funky "military samba" for lots of drums called Away Without Leave and a piece influenced by the music of India for mallet percussion, keyboard and bass with solo drum set, called Palta. The program will also include a Latin flavored jazzy percussion piece by Rick Kvistad dedicated to Dave Brubeck. The percussionists include some of the best of the Bay Area who regularly perform with the San Francisco Opera and are in great demand as free lance musicians as well. This one of a kind performance is not to be missed!
