Persian Tea via San Francisco

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us for music, photography, and first-generation stories of life between two countries. Hospitality by the Ghorban family in conversation with The Ambiguities of Blackness artist and Tea Afar producer April Banks.

This is an in-person event. COVID safety precautions will be observed including a temperature check at the door, socially distanced seating, and wearing a mask at all times unless eating or drinking.

About Tea Afar

April Banks is the producer of Tea Afar, a nomadic storytelling experience. For over a decade, she has made art that raised awareness and pointed to the global disparity in food security, farmer's rights, and fair trade. Tea Afar was conceived as a salve--bringing us together across borders--for the divisiveness and exploitation that is propagated by a global trade economy and racist travel bans. It is a collaborative multimedia project that shares her travel experiences with community at home--through the lens of her conceptual art practice. Since the launch in 2016 Banks has produced 12 events celebrating tea and infusion cultures in Syria, Senegal, Jordan, Yemen, Sri Lanka, India, China, Mexico, Argentina, and the American South.
