Under the baton of Chad Goodman, the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra will present "Voices of the Past, Present and Future" at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 5 at El Campanil Theatre in Antioch.
The program features the enormously engaging piano virtuoso Britton Day, whose parents both play in the San Francisco Symphony. He is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and received his Master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory. Britton will play Mendelssohn's underperformed gem, Piano Concerto No.1.
The orchestra will also present selections by two eminent living composers: Jordan Kuspa's opulent Lemonade Battery, and Jocelyn Hagen's deeply moving Adagio. The program closes with Schubert's mysterious Symphony No 8, "Unfinished", which has long been a great favorite.
