Paula Harris stands out among the San Francisco Bay Area’s best as one of the most unique and funky bands to have emerged from the area since bands like Sly & the Family Stone, Cold Blood and Tower of Power did decades ago. After bursting onto the scene in 2012 as one of the Top Three bands in the world at the International Blues Challenge, her debut album’s horn style was actually born of members of the famed Tower of Power band. The album was also heavily influenced by her love of soul blues, jazz and funk. Paula received multiple blues and music award nods as well as national and international attention from the press and media and global airplay in 2013.

Paula, a classically trained vocalist who has performed with several symphony orchestras, has an unexpected power, breath control and range that takes most blues audiences by surprise. She is often described as a combination of Etta James meets Bette Midler due to her witty mischievous personality on stage.
Her world class band, in which ALL the horn players hold Grammy award wins, dishes out irresistible, dirty grooves that dare her audiences not to move. The group is known for performances which blend brilliant musicianship fused with sophisticated complex arrangements and catchy hooks that are contrastingly simple and appealing to everyone. Frequently one will find traditional blues forms that have been melded with unexpected modern elements from the other genres from which Paula draws inspiration. The result is fresh and unique with an appeal that crosses cultural and generational demographics.

The rhythm section digs deep into the famous Bay Area sound known as “East Bay Grease” mixed with a heaping dose of “Swampyness” and a side of Big Band rollicking swing to create fresh outside-the-box approach to blues.

Currently nominated for the Northern California Entertainers Music Awards, Paula’s immense range, power and control kick this act’s sound into overdrive. She takes no prisoners and absolutely slays every one of her audiences!
