Inspired by Stax, Otis Redding and everything Memphis, Otis is a house band backing a rotating roster of sizzling soul singers.
Otis live shows are a fresh West Coast take on the Stax Soul Revue that toured Europe in 1967. They’re high-energy and professional. With a master of ceremonies. Multiple featured singers. Matching shark-skin suits. Showmanship and choreographed moves. A relentless rush of two-minute-thirty-second soul stompers, groovers and ballads.
In 2013, Otis played three sold-out debut shows to crowds of 350+ people. Featured singers included Bart Davenport, Jesse Wagner of The Aggrolites, Lilan Kane, Moorea, Viola Booth and several scorching new talents. The shows included cameos by Karina Denike and Xan McCurdy of Cake, and DJ sets by The Selecter DJ Kirk and DJ Dr. Scott.
Our soul revue at The Chapel takes the Otis show to the next level, in size and power. It stars East Bay soul legend Freddie Hughes, rising star Erin Greenwell, and a third special guest performer. It also features the debut of The Fillmore Horns, and The Selecter DJ Kirk spinning rare soul.

About Freddie Hughes
Freddie Hughes is a Bay Area treasure. A Berkeley native, he started recording in the late 50s and hit big with the single "Send My Baby Back" in 1968, followed up by "Where's My Baby," "My Baby Came Back" and many more. During his career, he's worked with giants Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner and Etta James.
