The 4th Annual Osaka Matsuri festival in San Francisco Japantown celebrating the people to people relationship between the two unique cultural capitals of San Francisco and Osaka will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 12 pm to 5 pm.
The festival will highlight Osaka's food, culture, and ties with the San Francisco community. Attendees can enjoy Japanese music and dance performances at the Peace Plaza stage while enjoying Osaka style food like takoyaki and okonomiyaki from various food booths. We welcome attendees to join along in the Bon Odori, a Japanese group dance led by dancers in colorful summer kimono. There will be a booth where you can rent a summer kimono for free as well. We will have guests from Osaka including entertainment by The Yamasho All-Stars featuring Grammy-nominated Osaka artist Masa Takumi, Shin Kawasaki, David Pinto, and Charlie Barreda. Our hilarious "Mr. Osaka" contest will also give festival attendees an opportunity to learn about the fun side of Osaka culture.
