Opening Reception: Jeffrey Nemeroff "Ephemeral Seas"

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Jeffrey Nemeroff: Ephemeral Seas
February 3–25, 2018
Opening Reception: Feb 3, 12–6pm (artist talk 2pm)

Far Out Gallery presents an exhibition of seascapes by artist Jeffrey Nemeroff. Realistic yet abstract, this collection of expressive oil paintings are inspired by the San Francisco coastline where the artist resides and is the culmination of an eighteen-month investigation of the subject.

The word ephemeral—often used in nature to describe temporary bodies of water such as streams or ponds—is in this case used to suggest a singular moment when the relationship between the sea, sky and other elements will never be the same again. The artist uses this brief interaction—and his fleeting memory of it—as inspiration in the studio. Additionally, the title “Ephemeral Seas” nods to the impermanence of the oceans themselves, and, therefore, the natural world as a whole.

Over the past twenty years Jeffrey Nemeroff has been included in exhibitions in the United States and Asia, and can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Europe, Britain and the Middle East. He currently lives and works in the Outer Richmond district of San Francisco. Far Out Gallery is the vision of gallerist/artist Anne Herbst and is located in the Outer Sunset.
