Open Studios at Sanchez Art Center, May 14, 2017

Here is a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day! Come to Sanchez Art Center’s Open Studios event on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May14, from 11 am to 5 pm. The event is free and will feature original work by 15 professional art-makers whose studios are on-site. This family-friendly event provides an opportunity to explore all kinds of art, from traditional printmaking, painting, and photography to cutting-edge 3-D works including assemblage, sculpture, and interactive pieces.

Open Studios will feature a series of seven art-making demonstrations, providing opportunities to see artists at work in their studios using a wide variety of mediums and techniques. Here is the schedule of planned demonstrations:
11:15 am – Kimberlie Moutoux, Studio 19 - Gleaning Color from Plants: Natural dyes from common sources
12:00 pm – Nancy Hall, Studio 14 - Interactive Art: Readings from a handmade fortune wheel
12:30 pm – Andrew Leone, Studio 14 - Color Monotype
1:15 pm – Celina Paul, Studio 15 - Printmaking
2:00 pm – Charlotte Seekamp, Studio 10 - Collage: The art of attaching papers with glue stick in a pleasing composition.
2:45 pm – Janet Arline Barker, Studio 11 - The Magic of the Brush: Painting with bold, expressive strokes
3:15 pm – Elizabeth Ross, Studio 2C - Alloying & Milling Metal
