The Paris Quartet is four Bay Area icons dedicated to the "only the best" of Baroque composers: Bach, Rameau and Telemann. In this short program, Rameau is represented by two of his extraordinary Pieces de Clavecin en Concerts, and Telemann by two of his famous Paris Quartets. Bach will have to wait until the next concert!
Rameau's Pieces de Clavecin are in essence dramatic pieces for solo harpsichord with complex parts for violin or flute, and for viol. Telemann visited Paris in 1737 and published sets of quartets specifically in the French taste, written for the leading instrumental players of the time in Paris (only the best).
