Oliver Mtukudzi & The Black Spirits

Originating from Zimbabwe, Oliver Mtukudzi & The Black Spirits have been performing since 1979, becoming one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s most legendary bands. Though the members of The Black Spirits have changed throughout the years, Mtukudzi (affectionately referred to as “Tuku”) has remained constant as the group’s front man and a public figure in promoting peaceful virtues. With his voice and guitar, Mtukudzi’s organic blend of traditional and pan-African influences, combined with cosmopolitan pop forms, has led the music to become known simply as “Tuku Music.”
