Friends and Family,
These are depressing times which call for serious escapism. It just so happens that I have a solo art show at the wonderful Lottie-Rose Firehouse Art Collective! It would bring me so much happiness if you all come and share this magical evening with me.
Reception starts 6 PM followed promptly by the main presentation at 830 PM. There will be entertainment through the night and an interactive art piece that will require your participation.
The result of the art piece will then be up for a bid and whatever money is generated from it will be donated to East Bay SPCA.
I would also love for you all to donate to
About the show:
Of Blue and Green: An Ode to Adaptation
This is an allegory about life. A story about a celestial a being who finds herself stranded in this strange land where life is gradually coming into form. Will she survive this perilous landscape? or will she succumb to its carnivorous nature.
In essence, this is a dialog between womanhood and the modern world. In which women are constantly subjected to sexism and oppression and how they have to develop certain traits to overcome these obstacles. But on the flip side of the coin, this is a dialog between us immigrants and our struggles to survive our new surroundings. Both subjects are objects of adaptation.
In its abstract form, I wanted to express adaptation through clothing set in a futuristic/prehistoric period. Marrying nature, fashion, art, and femininity to yield a collection that encompasses this concept of woman versus nature.
This is dedicated to every woman living and departed, To my mother, Victoria, who served as an inspiration for this project.
