Launching six emerging choreographic voices into the Bay Area community, ODC School and ODC Theater present Interspace/ology. Now in its 27th year, ODC’s Pilot Program brings together six artists for an intimate 11 week process of choreographic development and self production. Interspace/ology explores the physical and virtual space between our bodies and the world. Bringing a rare insight into the professional development of a wide range of invigorating choreographic voices. Carly Lave odes to the virtual world through the relationship between technology and the human body. Carmen Roman pulls inspiration from the traditional Afro-Peruvian dance Son De Los Diablos (Dance of the Devils), a street masquerade dance dating back to times of colonization, exploring the significance of ritual and procession in public spaces. Dana Genshaft builds character studies in a trio inspired by the effects of modernism. Alexandre Munz brings questioning to the evolution of our content driven society, speaking out the unspoken story of 47 years of a mysteriously undiagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome. Katelyn Hanes uses a duet to examine the forces that motivate and propel people to change their living conditions. Arina Hunter utilizes her body as the live and designed instrument for her soundscape. This dynamic show unites a diverse range of voices, transporting the audience along on an exploration of the dimensions that we each take up and connect to.
