The Obfuscia Hotel is an interactive, immersive theatrical performance hosted by Foma Labs, along with many of the San Francisco Bay Area’s pre-eminent immersive designers, performers, and artists. Drawing on themes of the supernatural, parallel worlds, and even the occult, Obfuscia Hotel is a fully immersive experience that promises to take guests on a journey to a world that exists just beyond our own.
The first iteration of the Obfuscia Hotel opened its doors on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 to over 400 members of The Battery San Francisco. Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response, two extra show dates have been added, to be held at The Laundry in the Mission District of San Francisco. At 200 tickets per show, these events promise to be much more intimate and personal than ever before.
Among the returning installations are:
Pythia: An ongoing performance where video content is projected onto vapor exhaled by the artist, a re-imagining of the oracles of old.
Sylvan Echoes: The Living Room Collective will be transforming the Laundry into a magical forest, taking guests on a journey to another place and time.
Seance: Drawing inspiration from the seances of old, guests will be invited to contact the beyond.
Spectral Photography: Combining the analog Pepper's Ghost illusion (made famous by Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion) with modern technology, guests will have their opportunity to have their photo taken with real life ghosts.
Foma Labs is Uriah Findley and Anthony Rocco. Together they offer over 15 years of experience design and performance direction for influential productions around the globe. Foma Labs creates thought provoking, transcendent, and immersive experiences that leave long lasting impressions on diverse audiences small and large. The world today is oversaturated with marketing tactics, technologies, and ploys that can be overwhelming and ineffective in conveying the true value of a product or service.
Foma captivates by pushing boundaries, challenging social norms, and motivating progressive responses through automated environments, live performance, game design, virtual space creation, in-depth narrative content and other out-of-the-box methods. Foma produces experiences that are not only told and heard, but lived and felt, by addressing both aesthetic and systemic aspects to cultivate ideas, stories and community.
