"Envisioning the Possibilities in Alameda County" is the theme for the Northern Alameda County Housing and Urban Development Symposium set to take place on Tuesday, May 29th for Faith and Organization Leaders at Berkeley City College.
The Northern Alameda County Housing Symposium will mobilize and inform the community on current efforts to preserve existing and create new affordable housing and explore the feasibility of extended wrap around services. Northern Alameda County Housing and Urban Development Symposium will include resources and services, breakout workshops will cover innovative approaches to homelessness, showcase success models of organizations providing housing today and technical assistance for ongoing support.
In November of 2016, Alameda County residents voted to approve Measure A1, a $580 million dollar bond to create more affordable housing and prevent displacement. Alameda county faith, community-based organizations and private community organizations own significant land and underutilized properties that can rehabilitated to provide shelter and housing for chronically homeless individuals and families.
