Two West Coast doom metal bands, North (Tucson, Ariz.) and Bloodmoon (San Luis Obispo) join forces for a short West Coast tour, bringing darkness with them in spades. While the two groups are similar stylistically, they vary in a few key points. North melds a spacey-rock atmosphere with heavy powered riffs, post-metal and some ambient prog-rock sections. Bloodmoon has traces of psychedelic-rock, but play a much deeper, slower, blacker version of the sludge metal sound, complete with haunting shrieks and chilling growls. (Amulya Datla)
