Drawing musical inspiration from Turkey, Greece, and the Balkan Peninsula,Near-East Bay delivers a driving and invigorating musical experience. The new ensemble pushes the boundaries of near eastern music by adding influences from their own unique musical backgrounds. By combining the sounds of the oud (a Turkish lute), the violin, the clarinet, the tapan (a double sided drum), and flamenco guitar, one immediately hears how Near-East Bay takes music from the Balkan regions and pushes this deep musical tradition to a new edge.
