On Saturday, June 2 at 10:30am, NVCM's Classical Kids presents the Thalea String Quartet. The Thalea String Quartet will take their listeners on an incredible journey through the music of Haydn, Piazzolla and Wu Man, bringing kids and their families face-to-face with music from all over the world and spanning hundreds of years of music history. The quartet will engage their audiences through interactive activities, audience participation and their trademark energy and enthusiasm.
PROGRAM:
Haydn - String Quartet Op 33 No 2 The Joke (4th mvt)
Wu Man - Turpan Dance
Piazzolla - Four for Tango
Garth Knox - Satellites: I. Geostationary
Doors open: 10AM
Performance: 10:30AM
The performance lasts approximately 45-minutes and is suitable for all ages. Coffee will be provided, as well as kid friendly snacks, and each child will receive coloring materials related to the music to work on as they listen.
TICKETS are $15-$40
($15 per person, $40 family pass for up to 4 people, FREE for kids 2 and under.)
Formed in 2014 at the Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival in Courmayeur, Italy, the Thalea String Quartet has been praised for their "vibrant performance" and "sincere expressivity" (SF Classical Voice). The quartet has performed recitals in Italy, France, the United States and Canada and was appointed as the first quartet-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2015-17. They were named one of the "Top 10 Bay Area Quartets You Should Know" by CultureTrip.com and were the recipients of the 2016 Barbara Fritz Chamber Music Award from the Berkeley Piano Club. They made their debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in early 2016.
The members of the Thalea String Quartet are dedicated educators and bring their commitment to teaching and outreach to their frequent educational and community performances. They have performed educational concerts to students of all ages.
