at McEvoy Foundation for the Arts (see times)
McEvoy Foundation for the Arts presents an audiovisual performance by acclaimed punk band No Age on Saturday, September 7, to celebrate the closing day of its summer exhibition, 'What is an edition, anyway?'. The program combines an improvisatory musical score with a road movie filmed the previous day during the duo's drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Reflecting the group's do-it-yourself ethos, No Age records the concert directly to tape, with 40 limited-edition cassettes available as a special ticket package for purchase and distributed to attendees after the performance.

"Score for the Day Before" is organized by Jonn Herschend as part of "Performance as Edition," an event series that acknowledges performance's implicit conundrum between poles of repetitive and unique actions. 'What is an edition, anyway?' surveys historical practices of creating and distributing editions, presenting an array of limited-edition artist's books, prints, album covers, original artworks, and other objects that offer a sweeping interpretation of the viability of editions-based practices.

A special ticket package including the limited-edition cassette is available at checkout. General Admission and Student/Senior tickets are also available. Before the event, MFA is open 11am-3pm with regular gallery access. Doors open to ticket holders at 4pm. A free closing reception for the exhibition takes place 6-8pm.

No Age is an American punk band from Los Angeles consisting of Randy Randall on guitar and Dean Spunt on drums and vocals. They specialize in experimental sounds as popular music and born of D.I.Y culture and a penchant for loud and soft tones that leave a physical impact. Their celebrated, improvisatory performances have been featured at such prestigious institutions as MoMA, MoCA, The Tate Modern, Food Fight, Bethnal Green Working Man's Club, and Queen of Sheeba Ethiopian Restaurant.

General Admission + Tape : $15.00. Seniors and Students: $7.00. General Admission : $10.00.
