Niles Boogie Woogie Dance Day with Steve Lucky and The Rhumba Bums

The historic Niles district of Fremont, CA, with it's rich history in the silent film industry, along with it's early Twentieth Century railroad aesthetic, classic film history museums, and it's various antique shops full of vintage Mid-Century memorabilia, clothing, and vinyl collections, will be the location of Rock n' Swing's™ daytime Boogie Woogie Swing Dance Workshop and evening fundraising Vintage late 1940's to mid 1950's-style Jump Blues Swing Dance Party, featuring live music from the Bay Area's own...Steve Lucky and The Rhumba Bums!
"Boogie Woogie", is the swing dance style adapted from American jitterbug by Europeans after World War Two, into a flashy and energetic form of both social and competition dance that features spectacular footwork and turns that are sure to dazzle on the dance floor. It's usually danced to Jump Rhythm and Blues, early Rock n' Roll, and of course, the music genre of Boogie Woogie. By itself, or in conjunction with other vintage swing dance styles, such as Lindy Hop or East Coast Swing, Boogie Woogie is a fun way to add to your social dance repertoire.
Steve Lucky and The Rhumba Bums, featuring Miss Carmen Getit, are a true Bay Area treat. They have been burning up dance floors from San Francisco to San Jose, with their revved up brand of jump rhythm and blues, since the vintage swing dance scene hit the mainstream in the mid-1990's. Steve's pumpin' piano, along with Carmen's virtuoso guitar playing and sultry vocals, will ensure that you won't be able to sit down! (Check out their site at luckylounge.com.)
Attendees can choose to either purchase tickets for both the workshop and the dance party, or the dance party only (details are below.)
Proceeds from this event will go towards The Niles Discovery Church's school sponsorship program, supporting third-world schools, such as The A.C.K (Anglican Church Of Kenya) St. James Primary School, with much needed supplies and funding.
