"Yeah Okay," the latest acoustic ballad by Palo Alto singer-songwriter Nikhil Dhingra, is raw, emotional and speaks about the trials and tribulations of overcoming a lost love. Like Elliott Smith, Dhingra says a lot with just an acoustic guitar and his breathy voice, though his songs aren't as angry as Smith's. Dhingra's songs work well in the stripped-down, intimate folk settings like on "Yeah Okay," but are also great when transformed into the melancholy pop songs of his full band arrangements on songs like "I Don't Know Yet." For the past couple of years, Dhingra has been writing and covering a whole slew of tunes, all in various stages of production, but always raw in terms of heartfelt outpouring of emotions.
