Midway Gallery artist-in-resident, Isis Hockenos will be transforming one of our spaces into a three-dimensional, life-size painting. Anyone who takes a look at Isis' paintings is tempted to climb inside, to crawl through peacock-colored foliage, to smell the lanolin of a freshly sheared, crown-wearing sheep, and to taste the meat cut lovingly from the side of a rose-colored hog. Fantasize no longer, we invite those seeking a midweek, one-of-a-kind event to dine within Isis’ painting alongside the company of like-minded folks.
In true Midway fashion, NIGHT FISHING will be an interdisciplinary event engaging multiple senses. Isis' work contains many references to her experience in food production, particularly through a feminist lens, and to her upbringing in West Marin. The Midway Culinary team at Madame Zola's will execute a menu carefully curated by Isis, reflective of her upbringing in West Marin using locally sourced food from her community of oyster farmers, cheesemakers, and ranchers. Revel in being a character in an Isis Hockenos painting, titillate your taste buds and expect a healthy dash of surrealist delight.
NIGHT FISHING is a series we do with one of our resident artists, Isis Hockenos, and forms part of The Midway Gallery's immersive dinner series. We present these surreal dining events seasonally (4 times a year). This installation of NIGHT FISHING is the second of its kind, the first, hosted in April, was a stunning affair which sold out. Be sure to snag tickets quickly as seating is very limited! Ticket price includes wine pairing.
