THE BAY AREA'S SIGNATURE HEALTHY LIVING EVENT
New Living Expo (formerly Whole Life Expo) has quickly become a world-class annual event, bringing together cutting-edge lecturers, thought-provoking speakers, 300+ sustainable living products exhibitors, local and independent vendors and artisans, and small business owners—many offering products or services under $25 that are made domestically—with a shared focus on building sustainable global community right here at home.
This 2013 speaker lineup showcases renowned speakers, celebrities, scientists and doctors featuring John Gray, author of the groundbreaking book, "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus". Gray is one of the leading relationship experts in the world and the best-selling relationship author of all time, having sold over 50 million copies in 50 different languages. Other featured presenters include Dannion Brinkley (New York Times bestselling author of three books and founder of The Twilight Brigade), Dan Millman (author of the bestselling "Way Of The Peaceful Warrior"), Richard Hatch (actor and lecturer whose credits include starring roles in “Battlestar Gallactica†and “Streets Of San Franciscoâ€), prominent Mill Valley sex therapist Lori Grace, Master Mingtong Gu (the Bay Area's leading Qijong teacher) and many others.
The Expo also includes dozens of daily panels, keynote addresses, and free lectures that will address timely subjects such as longevity and natural health, parenting, and sustainable/green living. In addition there will be ongoing yoga and body movement classes, a large on-site Bookstore, a Peace/Meditation Room, an outdoor stage featuring wonderful music throughout the weekend, as well as on-going day and night-time opportunities for attendees to mingle with like-minded people.
This is a bittersweet year for the Expo, as there is a strong possibility that this will be our last year at The Concourse. Our history with this venue is longstanding, and the act that it has been sold and is being converted to condos, saddens us. The origins of a new-age, alternative-lifestyle, natural-products "Expo," can be traced back to the early 1970s and the days of the Whole Earth Catalog, a widely popular alternative mail order catalog. The Whole Earth Company began the first Whole Earth Expo. By 1975, Whole Earth Expo was an established tradition in the counter culture of the time. The originator of the San Francisco Whole Life Expo, Ken Kaufman, eventually sold out to others, who did not fare as well, and it came back into his hands after several years. He changed the name to the New Living Expo so as not to confuse vendors and the public with the previous event. To this day the New Living Expo is the largest alternative Expo in the country, offering a broad array of speakers and vendors to appeal to a diverse audience. Ken and his wife Corinna, along with a stellar team of assistants and volunteers, plan to make this a year to remember.
