This year’s New Frequencies Fest devotes its entire program to jazz in the present tense. Highlights include performances by Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Angelique Kidjo; Henry Threadgill and Ensemble Double-Up (which includes renowned pianists Jason Moran and David Virelles) paying tribute to jazz avant-garde composer Lawrence "Butch" Morris; Ben Goldberg's Orphic Machine; a world premiere local favorite bassist and composer Lisa Mezzacappa; and Matana Roberts’ Panoramic Sound Quilts.
