KZ and The Robbers
New York, 2010 – The dark depths of winter and KZ plugs his guitar into an amp. He hammers out some chords, calls it “I Wanna Make You Cry” and with a few telephone calls KZ and The Robbers is born. Melding the energy and balls of a Creedence Revival with the gravity and earnestness of a Howlin Wolf, the boys carve out a sound and a place for themselves between Brooklyn and San Francisco.
San Francisco, present – After 3 years living, recording and performing in musical bootcamp, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, KZ returns to the motherland with a new bag of tricks. A new swing, a new vibe, a new attack—think Jorge Ben or Djavan played with the howling intensity of U.S. electric guitar. The Robbers is reformed with a bunch of California Savages and Michigan G.O.B.’s (Good Ole Boys) and takes on a new dimension, positioning itself uniquely between North and South, pop and noise, anger and tenderness.
Today KZ and the Robbers are in the studio recording their third album and rocking Bay Area and California stages. Look for new material in the first semester of 2016 and a steady diet of passionate live performances.
Israel Matos and The Outsiders
This is a new band with veteran Bay Area players. Featuring Israel Matos and Steve Salta from the classic San Francisco latin/reggae band Manicato and Gardner Goetze and Tommy Omahony of The Right Time, this set of all original music, written by Israel Matos and braught to life by the band, can described as "Outlaw Folk". But it's not unplugged. There are hints of old-school country and blues as well as hints of Cumbia music and straight ahead Rock 'n' Roll underneath ripping guitars (on some songs). With rich vocal harmonies to compliment the lyrical depth of these honest and soulful songs from Puerto Rico to San Francisco, the new music of Israel Matos and The Outsiders will come dressed to impress"
