Neck of the Woods Presents: Happy Hour Show : PETER MCGUIRE, Matthew from the Colonies, Marissa Kay

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Peter McGuire

Southern California native Peter McGuire fuses his punk rock roots with the passionate story telling of alternative country. His live performance is heartfelt and emotional, with a touch of self-deprecating humor. Peter has spent the last 16 years writing, recording, and playing live various instruments in various bands, and in 2017 released his first solo effort on a split EP with Matthew from the Colonies.

Matthew from the Colonies

Matthew from the Colonies is the project from the solo artist Matthew Allen. Hailing from the northern L.A. county town of Lancaster, songs of heartbreak, hope, love, loss, and redemption seem to flow seamlessly and naturally from the guitar. Brought up on the sounds of the 60's and 70's California folk movement, and steeped in old country and western music, this singer-song writer has found his niche in coffee houses, clubs, and bars. M.f.t.C's live performances have been called "heart-felt and passionate" bringing energy and substance to the stage, while being able create an environment for the audience of a personal session in his living room.

Marissa Kay

San Francisco singer-songwriter Marissa Kay's music echoes the classic folk, rock, and country she listened to on her mother's cassette player as a child, while also bringing in new sounds and the unique perspective from living as an openly transgender woman. In 2017, she organized a highly successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the release of her debut album, Trans Is Love. Called "inspiring" and "genre-bending" by music blog GirlGangMusic, her music resonates not only with the LGBT community but with anyone who has felt like an outsider in society.
