Nature Meditation Walk

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join Leslie Baron as she leads an afternoon of mindfulness practice in the Presidio of San Francisco. Using various methods of cultivating presence in the out of doors, we can re-connect to ourselves and to nature. We will be doing walking and sitting and inviting all of our senses to tap into our "pre-sense" of being human on planet earth.
This will be a one-way walk starting at El Polin Spring, then heading up the Ecology Trail and ending with a final meditation and refreshments in the beautiful garden of the historic Swedenborgian Church.
Walk Leader: Leslie Baron
Leslie Baron has been practicing Buddhist meditation for over 20 years, following teachers in the Theravadan Vipassana tradition. She teaches both mindful and concentration methods for beginners and experienced meditators alike. She is a graduate of Mark Coleman’s Awake in the Wild teacher training in mindful awareness practices in nature settings.

Details:
Moderate difficulty on dirt trails and a few hundred feet elevation change, with some stairs. The walk route between El Polin Spring and the Swedenborgian Church is 1.3 miles, excluding the return trip or any additional distance to parking or public transportation.
This walk will be most suitable for adults and children 8 years and up.
Preparation:
Sunhat, water, walking shoes and a warm layer. You should bring some sort of portable seating, as there will be some time spent on the ground or logs. A small cushion, backpacking chair, stadium seat padding, etc - something you can easily carry with you!
Meeting Location:
Meet at the entrance to El Polin Spring on the Presidio, where MacArthur Ave ends.
Transportation/Parking:
Accessible by Muni 43 or a longer walk from other Muni lines. The PresidiGo can also take you through the Presidio.
You have several options for parking:

You can park near the Swedenborgain Church, and walk down to the meeting site. Down Lover's Land would be a fun route! Parking is free with no time restrictions in the neighborhood near the church.

There is also parking along the residential area of MacArther Ave, with no time restrictions on weekends.

You can also park along West Pacific Ave (inside the Presidio boundary) near the Julias Kahn Playground. There is plenty of free parking with a 3 hour limit. From here you can walk down to the meeting location, and will also be mid-way to the church after the walk.

Cost:
This walk is FREE to attend (with RSVPs kindly requested).
Donations (in cash) can be made to Nature in the City on the day of the event. Special bonus! Everyone who donates $10 and above will receive a copy of the Nature in the City Map or other fun materials.
