Muwa and Eli Utne

Muwa is a Berkeley based "Eclectic Groove" outfit which draws musical inspiration from such various sources as 70's rock, folk, jazz, soul, and world music - as well as more contemporary indie and alternative streams. Appearing most often as a 5 piece band, we're looking forward to the chance to strip down and enter into a more intimate sound, as well as share lots of new material from our main songwriter, Maxwell Maynard, as well as share songs emergent from the duo that he forms with Lou Veramessa.

Eli Utne is a singer-songwriter based in Huchiun (Oakland) exploring sounds that immerse the listener in a verdant auditory field, each color a sound, each fragrance a lyrical motif or rhythmic flutter, inviting us to hear what rests beneath the swirl of daily motion. By shining a light on the power and necessity of human connection, and the danger of isolation and escapism, Eli hopes for his music to serve as a tool for our collective healing and liberation.

Eli's sophomore album, UNCERTAIN SEAS, comes out April 4th, 2024.
