Muni Diaries Live! The "Thank You, Driver" Show

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Muni Diaries Live is returning to the stage with a special show honoring the operators, mechanics, trainers, maintenance workers, and many others who keep Muni rolling every day! Join us for an evening of funny, poignant, and always-true stories by and about our wonderful transit workers -- and of course our Muni Haiku Battle.

Our fantastic storytellers (full line-up coming soon):

Charles Haletky has lived in San Francisco for thirty years and worked for Muni for twenty-one. His career at Muni includes operating buses and cable cars, serving as a supervisor for both buses and light rail, training operators on buses and cables cars, and serving as an acting manager in the Training Department. He shares two cats with his wife of nineteen years, travels as much as possible, and sings in the barbershop style with the San Francisco Cable Car Chorus (no affiliation with Muni).

Meaghan Mitchell's life mantra is based on the African proverb: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." As a native San Franciscan and journalist, Meaghan has successfully built residents' trust from the city's most marginalized communities by prioritizing news coverage in areas like the Bayview, Fillmore, SoMA, and Tenderloin Districts. Meaghan's background is multifaceted and meets at the intersection of diversity, inclusion and community engagement. Meaghan is currently a reporter for the San Francisco Standard.

Rory O'Neill has been working at MUNI for eighteen years. In that time, he has been a trolley bus mechanic, a mobile response unit mechanic for the light rail vehicle fleet, and an emergency response unit mechanic responding to derailments and pedestrian collisions with trains. He is currently the supervisor of the Maintenance Training Department, where he leads a team of nine trainers responsible for educating mechanics on the repair of MUNI's fleet. In his spare time, he plays bass guitar and enjoys hiking.

And our Haiku battle contestants:

Mc Allen is a four-time Muni Diaries Live Haiku Battle contestant, and three-time champion. In 2018, he and his kids rode every Muni line end to end in a single summer. Mc is a lover of San Francisco, the city he has called home for 20 years. He believes in the power of Slow Streets, Great Walkways, Transit Only Lanes and No Parking Signs. Mc's poetry has appeared in The San Franciscan magazine and Bay City Beacon. He's been a guest of the Total SF, Roll Over Easy and 99% Invisible podcasts, and he has been quoted in the local newspaper. He lives in Dogpatch with his wife and kids. Oh, and he is a Muni operator!
