Join JIMENA: Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa and At The Welll as we collaborate to uncover and explore how to access a Jewish spiritual life through body awareness and dance. The class will start with Mizrachi women's mysticism and sacred text teachings on the body, and then morph into a Middle Eastern dance class. This event will give you the chance to learn in community, celebrate Mizrachi tradition, and move your body!Miriam Peretz: Miriam is an internationally celebrated dancer devoted to creating transformational experiences for her students and audiences worldwide. Miriam has devoted her life to empowering and healing women through the art of dance and ritual. She was named prophetically by her mother, who saw in her infant daughter the potential to become a powerful spiritual leader like her biblical namesake, Miriam who led the Israelites through the Red Sea with drum and dance.Hadar Cohen: Hadar is a spiritual leader and community organizer manifesting visions of feminism, soulful prayer, and communal care. She is currently the scholar in residence for At The Well, learning and creating content around Jewish time, Jewish relationship to the body and the divine feminine.About JIMENA and At The Well:JIMENA: Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa is a nonprofit which advocates for the inclusion and preservation of the history and culture of mizrahi and Sephardi Jews.
