MONTEREY MUSEUM OF ART PRESENTS FIRST ART IN BLOOM 2013 Central Coast floral designers honor the rich permanent collection
For the first time, the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) will present Art in Bloom, April 24-28, 2013 at the MMA La Mirada. Art in Bloom is an event that highlights art and flowers as a unified expression. Building on its intention to inspire a passion for the visual arts, the MMA will expand the appreciation of the California artistic legacy through this event.
David Ligare, Roland Peterson, Paul Roehl and Angela Strassheim are a few notable artists from the Museum’s rich permanent collection whose works will provide inspiration to more than twenty of the Central Coasts’ most artistic floral designers.
The floral designers will interpret what they see in a selected painting, capturing mood, composition, texture, color and light. Their spectacular floral creations will be staged in the galleries and throughout the beautiful historic estate of La Mirada.
Art in Bloom opens with a gala fundraiser event the evening of April 24, 2013, featuring culinary delights, unique live performers and entertainment in addition to the preview of extraordinary floral arrangements. The event continues April 25-28 with an engaging schedule that includes floral demonstration and afternoon teas, plus children’s activities. The event will also include a silent auction, raffle drawing of luxury prizes and other exciting items with proceeds benefitting the Monterey Museum of Art programs and exhibitions.
