Montclair Village Summer Art Walk

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Charming Montclair Village is the perfect spot to take a break from the bustle of the Bay during the Montclair Village Art Walk. This sidewalk art show celebrates art in the outdoors with more than 40 artists from the Bay Area and beyond displaying their handcrafted works against the scenic backdrop of the Oakland Hills. Visit the event, connect with the artists and find a unique treasure for gifting or adding to your personal collection.

Enjoy purchasing unique art and décor for gifts, home or office and support artists' small businesses at the Montclair Village Art Walk, April 22 and 23, 2023 from 10am-5pm each day. Presented by the Montclair Village Association, this free open air art gallery offers a chance to get to know the participating artists and learn the stories behind each piece they make. Among the celebrated artisans participating in this year's event:

Saadia Kamal of Saadia Art LLC.
"Beauty can be found in the most unexpected places, which is why my passion is transforming everyday items into functional art and 3D art," says Saadia. "I have always loved textures and vibrant colors in all art forms. My art career began as a palette knife artist. Most of my work incorporated impasto paintings with vibrant hues. I fell in love with resin art a few years ago and realized the endless possibilities that come with it.
"One of the great joys of my process is the play between guiding the materials and allowing the creation to unfold on its own," she adds. "The vibrant hues and 3D effects in my pieces are inspired by the many countries around the world where I have lived and traveled. In many ways, artist resin reflects life: fluid, changeable, and often resulting in wonderful surprises."

Gila Sagy of Gila Glass
"Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. I love plants and flowers; I love the ocean and its waves," says Gila. "Another source of great inspiration are people; their comments, questions and reaction to my artwork are very important to me. It's a great privilege being able to meet art lovers and enthusiasts in person at art shows and events."

The contemporary and unique glass designs that Gila creates use the traditional manner of fusing in a kiln. Her work is a balance of function and beauty, fitting in the mainstream of contemporary design, yet singular in its direction, composition and style. Most of her work is inventive, unique and one of a kind.

Erica Ben-Moshe of Elka Herbals
"I created Elka Herbals in 2011 in the lush coastal mountains of Northern California. The vision was born from my love of nature, herbs and organic living," says Erica. "Up in the mountains I was surrounded with the gift of nature's abundance and a pace of life that offered room for creative initiatives: Picture a field of lavender blooming beneath the summer sun, vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, rolling hills and open spaces.

"Working with the bounty of plants and herbs on the land, I crafted a small line of natural herbal products. I began taking my products to local fairs and markets, and quickly understood the growing demand for natural and organic skincare free of harmful and synthetic ingredients. The products that I craft are an expression of the lifestyle I strive for. I craft my products in a way that is closely aligned with this lifestyle- simply, healthfully and with integrity."

Juan Archuleta of Art by Archuleta
Juan Archuleta's mixed media painting comes from his over 40 years of experience as a full-time artist. His professional career in art began with portraiture in 1972 to support his wife and two children. Since 1976, he has devoted his work to rendering landscapes, particularly forest scenes in style ranges from contemporary to traditional impressionism. Juan's work has been advertised in Architectural Digest, and Southwest Art Magazine and he was commissioned by the Yosemite Fund Foundation in 1988.

Jeannie Haydon of Jeannie Haydon Creative Jewelry
"I've had a passion for jewelry and metals since I was a 12-year-old girl making necklaces. I create mixed metal jewelry and sculpture that is inspired by the world around me. I love texture and innovative design and incorporate those facets into my work. I like to collect odd and common objects for mixed media sculpture," says Jeannie. "I enjoy picking pieces up off the street, waiting until getting a spark of creativity and using these individual objects to create something new. I use all the techniques and knowledge acquired in 30+ years of making jewelry and sculpture for a living. The result is high quality sculptural jewelry pieces that you can wear forever."

The Montclair Village Art Walk takes place in the Montclair shopping district on Mountain Boulevard at LaSalle Avenue, off Highway 13, between Park Boulevard and Thornhill Drive.
