Mobile Light Art Station

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Immersive Arts Alliance presents the Mobile Light Art Station, a free, outdoor display of works of light art by six Bay Area artists including Zeina Barakeh, Elaine Buckholtz, Can Buyukberber, Heesoo Kwon, Davey Whitcraft, and Ian Winters.

The selected works by the six artists depict a meeting point of the human enterprise and the natural world with arresting and sometimes unexpected consequences. Davey Whitcraft's Altogether Now explores a new mode of working with landscape and proposes a world that operates with different physics and impossible geometries. Can Buyukberber, a pioneer of digital art, contributes METAXY, a recent work which functions as a time capsule sent to a distant future.

The Mobile Light Art Station comes to Boeddeker Park in San Francisco's Tenderloin at Jones and Eddy for a special program on Thursday, April 13, 2023, 8-9:30pm, with a performance by dancer and choreographer Hope Mohr organized by CounterPulse and in partnership with the Tenderloin Museum, the Tenderloin Redevelopment Corporation, Jonathan Carver Moore Gallery, and the Vita Brevis Club. The event is part of the recently-announced, month-long Tenderloin Arts Festival.

Later in April, the Mobile Light Art Station moves to Oakland to the exterior of the former Esther's Orbit Room.

Programs are free and do not require reservations.
