MoAD Vanguard Presents: Black Joy & Art In The Garden

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join MoAD Vanguard for a 3-hour community healing space in the heart of Yerba Buena Gardens. This space is dedicated to uplifting the African Diaspora by promoting, practicing, and preserving self-love and black joy. Bring your family and friends out for a day of healing artwork, self care reform yoga with Dr. Marcus Penn, rhythmic drumming, and children-inspired poetry.  Attendees will have the opportunity to bring their own food and blankets to bask in the natural beauty of San Francisco and connect to black love using the arts with their neighbors throughout the Bay Area communities.
This event is free to attend and $25 if you wish to participate in an art workshop. Fee covers the cost of your supplies.
Healing Artwork -An exclusive opportunity to draw upon the beauty of Yerba Buena Esplanade's open space and engage with our community of artists through a journey of self-exploration and creativity.  Each 60-minute workshop will focus on using vibrant colors to create your very own personalized 8x10 inch canvas painting of an aspect of the African Diaspora.
Worskshop schedule:
2-3pm // Taught by Malik Seneferu // "From the Hill and Beyond"- Malik's work is heavily influenced by Haiti and Kenya as he explores the art form of cubism before Picasso popularized it in the Western world.

3-4pm // Taught By Adonia Middleton // "Blame it on the Fro"- Adonia is a burgeoning artist whose work has been featured in colleges and retail establishments who uses her brushstrokes to capture the essence of Black femininity and pride.

*Only 20 spaces available per workshop*
