SEE EVENT DETAILS
MINIMAL // TECHNO // HOUSE
3rd Saturdays at Underground SF
$5 before 10pm, $8 after

Hey party people, we've got a special evening planned for you. This month we are thrilled to feature Black In Time! The dynamic duo is house music's legendary producer DJ Ra-Soul and Crisp Recording's buzzy and chatty founder Don Crisp.

DJ Ra-Soul (Guy Nado) - https://soundcloud.com/dj-rasoul

Rasoul's early childhood was filled with learning experiences from both school and his family. He drew inspiration from many things, most importantly a love of the visual arts.

During his high school days Guy was immersed in a musical household. "My dad was into music a lot and has always been friends with a lot of African musicians." He promoted lots of reggae and African bands (in the SF Bay Area) which enhanced his love for music.

Currently Ra-Soul is a major influence in West Coast House sound. Guy has played all over Europe, South Africa, North America, Mexico, Australia, and Indonesia.

--

Don Crisp - https://soundcloud.com/don-crisp

Don was born in Chicago and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He started taking piano lessons at the age of six, and by the time he was 15 was proficient with the upright bass, clarinet, electric bass, and drums.

It was in the Bay Area that he first experienced house music and other forms of electronic dance music. He was greatly influenced by what he heard and by the mid ‘90s had started his own label, Crisp Records, initially releasing material with fellow San Francisco musician and DJ, Chris Lum. The label had been quiet since the late ‘90s, but in the summer of 2011 Don revived it, renaming it Crisp Recordings, and began a collaboration with legendary Bay Area producer, Guy Nado AKA DJ Ra-Soul.

This collaboration has spawned 14 releases on Crisp, which have found success on dance floors across the globe and in the top 100 charts on Tracksource. Don has also remixed “Fall Down” by prolific dance music artist Sunshine Jones. At a time when the vast majority of dance releases are minimalist and lacking any real sense of emotional content or arrangement Don’s work brings some much needed fun and funk into the equation. Watch out as he and Ra-Soul set more dance floors alight with their infectious blend of electronics and soul.
