Midsummer Mozart Festival Opening Night

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Dedicated to fresh interpretations of Mozart's most enduring masterworks, the Midsummer Mozart Festival opens with a solo piano recital featuring Bay Area based pianist Daniel Glover. Praised by San Francisco Classical Voice as "brilliant, tender, whimsical, sparking," Glover has performed all over the world including appearances with Redwood Symphony, Saratoga Symphony, and the Szeged Philharmonic. Among his numerous competition awards is first prize in the prestigious Liederkranz Competition and the New York Artists International Competition. The program will feature solo piano works such as Mozart's Fantasy in C minor, K. 475, Rondo in D Major, K. 485, Adagio in B minor, K. 540 and Gluck Variations, K. 455. Long-time friend and collaborator Thomas Hansen will make a special appearance joining Glover on stage for Sonata for Four Hands in F Major, K. 497. Previously based in Boston, Hansen has lived in the Bay Area for almost forty years where he performs with many local orchestras and serves on the faculty of Belmont's Notre Dame de Namur University.

Since its founding in 1974, the Midsummer Mozart Festival has become a beloved Bay Area institution presenting fresh interpretations of masterworks by one of the most universally revered composers. The festival has welcomed a roster of distinguished guest artists including Garrick Ohlsson, Claude Frank and Nicolai Demidenkov, while the resident orchestra and chamber ensemble comprises of professional musicians from across the Bay Area. Local conductor Paul Schrage was recently appointed as Music Director after a year serving as the organization's conductor and artistic advisor.
