Midlake is a rock band from Denton, Texas, who first gained widespread popularity after performing at such music festivals as Les Inrockuptibles, Wintercase, End of the Road, and South by Southwest. Formed in 1999 by a group of students at the University of North Texas College of Music, Midlake originally started off playing jazz before incorporating elements of funk, rock, and folk. They have released numerous EP's and full length albums, including their most popular, The Courage of Others.
