MicroFest North presents Sarah Cahill, "a sterling pianist and an intrepid illuminator of the classical avant-garde" (The New York Times), in a solo recital at the Center for New Music. Cahill's program celebrates the 100th birthday of maverick composer, environmentalist and gay icon Lou Harrison with a wide range of his piano music, including his Summerfield Set, several movements from the Suite, two Cembalo Sonatas, the early Jig and Range-Song, and several unpublished and rarely performed works. Cahill worked closely with Harrison during his life, has championed many of his works for piano, and even copied rare scores from his collection during visits to his home in Aptos, California.
