Every first Friday, San Jose DJ collective Sonido Clash bring a combination of modern and classic Latin music to the Pagoda. Usually there's a special guest headliner, someone pushing the boundaries of new Latin music. (Los Rakas, Mexican Institute of Sound, Chico Mann). This month it's Metralleta De Oro, who are an L.A. DJ collective (Diego Fuego, Sumo Deejay, FONDO). They are kind of like the L.A. version of Sonido Clash. Down there, they bring cutting edge Latin music to the Office Nightclub every third Thursday. They've even recently brought down Turbo Sonidero Futuristico, one of the DJs from Sonido Clash. With both collectives in the house, the DJs will be spinning a whole lot of cumbia, merengue and mambo mixed with hip-hop, electronica and other innovative genre-bending twists. (Aaron Carnes)
