SINJIN HAWKE

Before this Barcelona-residing Montrealist stretched out on his own with 2011′s The Lights EP on Pelican Fly, he’d already made a name for himself as a tireless activist and facilitator of forward-looking celebrations. His hometown throwdown ‘Boomclap’, linked the great and good in low frequencies across the globe, and this year’s mixes for Rinse FM and URB have won him fans from aspiring DJs, festival headliners, and soulful ravers alike. His productions demonstrate an innate grasp of sensual alien jams, combining all the familiar elements of footwork, R&B, and instrumental rap: in short, he speaks in tongues we can all understand. Whether he’s operating on his own or teaming up with DJ Sliink or Night Slugs’ wonder-kid Morri$, Sinjin Hawke has the golden touch that brings technicolor to the most monochrome of clubs, creating the kind of atmosphere that brings all us a bit closer together – in a sleep-over kind of way.

KINGDOM

Los Angeles-based DJ / producer Kingdom rose to public acclaim with his debut single “Mind Reader” (released on Fool’s Gold in early 2010), a collaboration with big-voiced NYC diva Shyvonne. But even before “Mind Reader,” Kingdom had been deeply involved in Bok Bok & Lvis-1990′s London-based Night Slugs collective, having had his European debut at their second-ever club night. It was his mixtapes that first alerted Night Slugs’ attention. His debut 2006 mixtape fused grime, crunk, US club, and house with his unique adaptations of R&B vocals. On his debut Night Slugs EP That Mystic, Kingdom delivered five tracks that reference many of the aforementioned genres, but also possess a completely individual, otherworldly gleam.

EDUARDO CASTILLO

Eduardo Castillo’s music finds a harmony between primal, organic drums and entirely synthetic melodies. This is the kind of music you’d probably hear if you came upon some time-traveling ravers dancing naked in the forest. Castillo’s sound defies traditional genre labels, and its slow evolutionary qualities make it especially interesting in the context of a full set.

Hailing from Venezuela but establishing a home base here in the US (Los Angeles), Castillo is very well acquainted in the music community. His Voodoo parties that he hosts in LA, Miami, and recently the BPM Festival in Mexico have become the talk of the town. Originating in an LA loft, these parties feature names such as Luca Bacchetti, Carl Craig, Safeword, and partner in crime Acid Pauli. Castillo himself is a force to be reckoned with behind the decks – years of experience have lent him the expertise to create sacred DJ sets that take listeners on a journey through feeling and expression. His music can be described as multidimensional, as it communicates a message through sound.

AN-TEN-NAE

An*Ten*Nae is one of San Francisco’s most sought after DJs and live performers. He has taken the art of live remixing to new heights with his own customized setup, that bends genres in ways seldom heard. This sound is called Acid Crunk, and there are no rules, no restraints in its quest for pure BASS devastation.

An*Ten*Nae is a low frequency emitter transmitting and remixing music on the fly, giving him the ability to transcend above the constraints of music rigidity and transmit bass heavy, crunked out beats of the highest order. HisGenre bending, “Acid Crunk compilations” have set the standard and has defined an era with over 1,000,000 downloads to date. Picking up steam in 2009 Acid Crunk Vol. 2 maintained the # 1 seller in Dubstep, Electronica and Chillout genres simultaneously while also having all 14 tracks in their respective genre top 10, as well as rocking the charts on iTunes, Juno Digital and a host of other sites. With an album in the works and the ever growing Acid Crunk series running at full steam, we see no end in site for the ever changing chameleon known as An*Ten*Nae.
