Downtown Menlo Park plays host to the Menlo Park Sidewalk Fall Art Stroll Friday and Saturday September 27-28 from 10 am to 6pm, and Sunday, September 29, from 10am to 5pm. This annual art-filled family friendly event gives visitors the opportunity to browse and shop among many one-of-a-kind creations lovingly crafted by a variety of talented artisans and displayed in the charming atmosphere of downtown Menlo Park.
Taking place along Santa Cruz Avenue off El Camino Real, the Sidewalk Fall Art Stroll is free to the public and features an exciting array of original works by more than 50 artists and craft makers including local artist Michelle Chow of RFRESH, with her handmade bath and body products. Other creations on display will include paintings, jewelry, photography, unique wood items, clothing, accessories and more. All of the artists will be on hand to visit with patrons while some will be demonstrating their craft during the show. Among the artists to participating at this year's event:
Jewelry
Hester van Diggelen is a goldsmith, silversmith and gemologist originally from the Netherlands who lives and works in Santa Barbara. While creating primarily in sterling silver, she also incorporates gold, gems, rubber, felt, resin and enamel into her work. Hester is a constantly evolving artist and is always creating new and original designs. Her skillful hand and modern eye combine to reveal a unique line of jewelry that includes bracelets, necklaces, pendants, earrings and rings. Hester fabricates all of her jewelry including soldering, hammering, filing, sanding and polishing.
Leather
Galit Perez designs and creates a beautiful, modern line of handbags that fit the urban woman's life style blending fashion and functionality using only the highest quality of leather and handcrafted locally in California. She covers every aspect of the production from the cutting of the hides as well as the sealing and sewing all the components. Inspired by her Spanish roots, Galit makes stylish leather and suede bags in a variety of sizes and splashy colors including rust, camel, red, black, tan, orange and antique pink.
Painting
Chuba Oyolu Ph.D. was born in Nigeria and moved to the United States in 2000. He went on to earn a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering both at Stanford University. Chuba developed an interest in the fine arts in early 2007 during his transition from Pittsburgh to the Bay Area and today provides mainly home decor products, accessories and art prints that are heavily influenced by his African heritage and love for music. His lively, contemporary acrylic paintings capture the energetic personalities of celebrities who, in their unique ways, changed the world.
