Hard-rock riffs and R&B grooves seem like a natural blend, though not a lot of bands these days attempt the combination. Locals Melted State ride a very thin line between the genres. It's honest, genuine music, even if it isn't following whatever trend is popular at the moment. Singer Noah Kibreab's soulful growling voice will get under your skin-if the music hasn't already moved you. If this were the '90s, their breed of groove-rock would have gotten them a record deal by now. But such are the times. With the bass, drums, guitar and a keyboard, they unabashedly offer to play their hearts out to you.
