Mayhem the Don has assumed the responsibility of carrying San Jose's rap game on his shoulders. This makes sense, seeing that his style is very distinctly West Coast. Mayhem's music is bit dark, a bit braggadocious but fun at the same time and reminiscent of Mac Dre in his prime-or anything from the hyphy movement before it became mainstream. His flow is steady, and the beat behind it always has a touch of funk. For someone who refers to himself as "Your favorite rapper's favorite rapper," Mayhem has taken rap from the 408 and given it a strong East Bay feel. (Nick Rivelli)
